Aloha, Generally speaking, ESCOM is a German Corporation that has had
alot of interest in Amiga and Amiga support products for quite some
time. They (ESCOM) also have a great following for their products in
that sector of Europe, (which may explain inpart the early interest they
showed toward the aquisition of Amiga). Anyway, to qualify that last
statement the original offering for Amiga was $5 million (not sure if
that was German currency), this offer was hedged, and also needed the
trustee's to have court approval from the U.S. Bankruptcy court and
Bahaman Court as a result of Commodore's corporate structuring. It was
stippulated that a formal auction take place. A date was set, ESCOM won
out, which by all indications, on all points should benifit a number of
individuals, ( i.e. the user, NEWTEK who was basically forced to broaden
itself to other platforms and now will have the best of both worlds, and
ESCOM who will have a built in market and a soon to arrive new chipset
that was about to emerge when the business and marketing noloads at
Commodore decided to bite the BIG BULLET, which by the way sent all of us
scurrying franticaly. Upshot, alls well that ends well, and alot of
people are going to sleep better now that Commodork is completely out of
the way. I applaud all of you that have listened to my somewhat of a
diatribe against Commodork. Many Mahalos, from Hawaii David=-)
